JOB TITLE: Housing Stability Case Manager
STATUS:  Full Time Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Programs
Position Summary
The requirements of this position are to provide advocacy, life-skills, resource coordination, and case management to families who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide case management and resource and referral to families who are at risk of losing their housing or experiencing homelessness.
  • Work with Shelter Coordinators, Housing locators, and other partner programs to assist families in planning for housing stability.
  • Provide various life skills training opportunities with each family, such as cooking, grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, filling out entitlement applications, and more.
KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge and belief in “Housing First” philosophy and strategies and strength-based case management.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed services, systems, and organization by realizing the widespread impact of trauma & understanding potential paths for healing; recognizing the signs & symptoms of trauma in staff, clients, and others involved in the agency; and responding by fully integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, practices, and settings.
  • Ensure 2-Generation approach by intentionally and simultaneously working with children and the adults in their lives together.
REQUIRED ABILITIES AND SKILLS
  • Sincere passion for and understanding of FA’s mission and commitment to families without or with inadequate housing; ability to be a compelling ambassador for the organization’s values.
  • Experience with thorough case notes.
  • Experience working with families in crisis- financial, mental health, disabling conditions, etc.
  • Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and will be required to pass a background check.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field with 2 years of related case management experience, or three or more years of related case management experience in Chester County.
  • Legal knowledge and experience with the eviction process required.
